Not all tech companies share the same set of values. Some tech companies have a single minded focus on short-term profit at all costs -- valuing a small set of shareholders above all other stakeholders. Still, others have been accused of everything from exploiting their workers to contributing to the spread of misinformation and the growth of mental illness. Given the existence of bad-actors, it's understandable that some people might view all of tech in a negative light and might be skeptical of any one company's motives when it comes to the consideration of community resilience.
2-Dooz believes that the overwhelming majority in tech is committed to using expertise and resources to make a positive impact on the world. We take seriously the need for tech to lead and to role-model behavior that demonstrates a more abundant way.
2-Dooz believes that tech can once again assert societal leadership. We can step up to the existential challenges that are confronting us all. We are innovators and world-class problem solvers. We and those who share our values are proud to commit bandwidth to the pursuit of "doing good." The Resilience Community™ is 2-Dooz's rallying cry for this effort.
The 2-Dooz Resilience Community comprises many inter-related efforts.
The Resilience Technology Platform™ (RTP) comprises the MSSD-based smart rings, the TALUS AI model, and a suite of mobile apps which are intended to diagnose and treat various mental health disorders. The RTP's Mood Sensing Sharing Device (MSSD) intellectual property is described in U.S. Patents No. 11878126 B2 (2024), No. 12114977 B2 (2024), and No. 9064390 B1 (2015).
MSSD Smart Rings, inclusive of the Resilience Smart Ring™, detect the finger skin temperature (FST) biomarker; algorithmic map FST biomarker readings into an estimate of a user’s current distress levels; and triggers the initiation of a complementary intervention (e.g., deep breathing) based on the determination of a prolonged period of emotional distress. The MSSD Smart Ring is a key component of our biofeedback system which detects emotional distress and initiates deep breathing to help mitigate symptoms arising from distress.
TALUS™ (Trained Artificial Logic Used for Safety) AI is our foundational Mental Health Safety model. The name is inspired by the talus, which is a small bone in the ankle that is instrumental for balance and that holds the weight of an entire body. Likewise, TALUS AI is a core model that serves as the foundation for a family of multimodal AI models, each of which extend TALUS to a specific mental health diagnosis area, e.g., suicide risk level per our work within the Resilience Tech-Forum (RTF).
The Distress Symptoms Mitigation™ App for the Resilience Smart Ring is the most recent member of our mobile apps family. It recognizes symptoms of distress and independently alerts users at the onset of high stress levels, when deep breathing can be most expedient for the reduction of symptoms which arise with high-stress. The Resilience Smart Ring forwards a user’s stress powered biofeedback to a paired Distress Symptoms Mitigation App (running on an Apple iOS capable smart phone). Note that deep breathing (DB) is recognized as a beneficial stress intervention per the Veterans Administration’s Veterans Employment Toolkit.
The 2-Dooz Research Labs focus on disease prevention underlies our commitment to helping to build a more resilient community. Our research has focused on the role that long-lasting stress plays in the progression of chronic disease, which is estimated to affect 6 out of every 10 adults. By definition, a chronic disease is one with no cure. Prevention, however, is a viable option for avoiding the acquisition of a chronic ailment in the first place. Our pioneering work on Indispensable Amino Acids (IAAs) and how the optimal consumption of IAAs can lead to improved health and wellbeing is an exemplary of our prevention efforts.
The Resilience Tech-Forum (RTF) serves as a focal point for how tech companies can pool resources to make a difference. We can either continue to be complicit in the problems that plague our world, or we can use our expertise to make a positive difference. The aim of the RTF is to affirmatively and concretely demonstrate that the tech industry can choose to do more good. The RTF's work spans from improving access to mental health resources to building bridges between the tech industry and community. 2-Dooz is actively recruiting other like-minded tech companies to help the RTF to fulfill its mission.
